Garza eyes continued good form for US U-20s
GUATEMALA CITY, Guatemala ? The left back problem persists for the US.
Carlos Bocanegra isn't the answer. Jonathan Bornstein ? fresh off a shocker against Paraguay ? can do no right in the eyes of the collected masses, even when he does (see: World Cup 2010). And Jonathan Spector, nope.
But down in Guatemala, the flank was solidified ? for a night, at least.
Greg Garza, Thomas Rongen's embattled, frequently maligned, first-choice fullback, had himself a sublime performance against Suriname on Tuesday night during the U-20s' opening match of the CONCACAF Championship.

Three Reasons to Watch Nik Lentz vs. Waylon Lowe

The UFC made nine fights available to fans live on Saturday night, with five streaming on Facebook and four on Spike TV. And if nine UFC fights wasn't enough for you (and really, is any amount of MMA ever enough?) now there's a 10th fight available live and free at UFC.tv.
The preliminary bout between Nik Lentz and Waylon Lowe, which wasn't part of either the Facebook or Spike broadcast, is available in full online, and it's worth watching for a number of reasons: Lentz won again and won the way he wanted to win, Lowe got a stern talking-to afterward from one of the UFC's major decision-makers, and a mistake at the end of the first round showed once again that too many state athletic commissions lack competent employees.
Allow me to go into a little more detail.

UFC 128′s Three Stars: Jon Jones, Jim Miller and Erik Koch
No. 1 star -- Jon Jones: He's young, he's still learning, and he's the UFC light heavyweight champ. Jones put on a clinic against Mauricio "Shogun" Rua, throwing flying knees, spinning elbows, head kicks, jabs and the kitchen sink to win the belt. Next, he'll have to face his friend and teammate Rashad Evans to hold onto the championship. Maybe by then, I'll finally learn not to pick against Jones.
No. 2 star -- Jim Miller: Fighting at home in the Garden State, Miller ruined Kamal Shalorus' UFC debut with a dominating performance. His third-round TKO was Miller's seventh win in a row, and it's hard to dispute that Miller has earned a shot at the lightweight belt.
No. 3 star -- Erik Koch: Coming from the same camp as Anthony Pettis and Pat Barry, Koch showed off his own striking skills in a first-round KO of Raphael Assuncao, serving notice to the UFC's featherweight division. But he did leave one question unanswered: how does someone training in Wisconsin in winter get a tan like that? Perhaps GTL is part of the training routine at Duke Roufus' gym.

Video analysis: Let’s all pump the brakes on Jon Jones
The hype train is rolling down the tracks for Jon Jones after he ransacked Mauricio "Shogun" Rua. Don't dare step in front of it. If you suggest someone can give him a fight, you may get screamed at.
Jones is ultra-impressive, but he has a long way to go before he can be given an "era" or called an all-time great. Even Dana White cautioned fans to slow it down a bit.
"After what I saw tonight, it looks like he's like a mile ahead of everybody," White said, "But who knows, man. You never know in this sport."
White has seen young guys struggle in dealing with all the new responsibilities of being a superstar.
"His life is going to change in so many ways starting right now it's actually scary. When you get to this point, I worry about guys," White said.
"He's going to have to make a lot of choices over the next couple of years ? personally, professionally. He's in for a very wild, weird crazy ride right now. And he seems like a guy who's grounded enough and has the right people around him to handle it and go the right direction, but you never know."

During the 12-season run of The Ultimate Fighter, many of the most memorable moments have involved the show's coaches. Ken Shamrock and Tito Ortiz wanted to kill one another. So did Rashad Evans and Rampage Jackson. Josh Koscheck spent most of his time on the show trying to get under Georges St. Pierre's skin. Multiple coaches have broken the door that leads into the Ultimate Fighter gym.
But from the way Brock Lesnar and Junior dos Santos are talking, moments like those are going to be lacking on the 13th season of the show, which begins on Wednesday night. On a conference call to promote their show, Lesnar and dos Santos were nothing but respectful toward each other, and they indicated that they both prefer to save any negative energy they feel for each other until they fight in June.

MMA Top 10 Bantamweights: Cruz, Faber on a Collision Course

The two best 135-pound fighters in the world will square off some time later this year for the first ever UFC bantamweight title match in what should be a great showcase for what has quietly become one of the UFC's most talented weight classes.
Before the UFC absorbed World Extreme Cagefighting, the smaller guys were largely overlooked by casual MMA fans. But now that the UFC has added the WEC's bantamweights -- and also snapped up some 135-pounders from other promotions -- the bantamweight class is stacked. In fact, as I put together my latest ranking of the Top 10 bantamweights in mixed martial arts, all 10 of them are now under contract to the UFC.
The top two, as you probably suspect, are bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz and the only man to defeat him, Urijah Faber. Those two will square off at UFC 132. But the rest of the bantamweight division includes several talented fighters who could become worthy challengers to the bantamweight title in the years ahead.
