Ten Reckless Predictions for Oct. 9

Will the wheels come off the Trojan horse at Stanford? Will Western Kentucky, Florida International, New Mexico and New Mexico State end their collective 47-game losing streak? (Answer: two of them will, since the Hilltoppers visit the Golden Panthers and the Lobos visit the Aggies). Will ESPN's Mike Tirico mention the name "Jenn Sterger" when the Jets play the Vikings on Monday Night Football? Not that it has anything to do with college football, but the reckless prediction here is no.

On to the others.

10. In Athens, first-year Tennessee coach Derek Dooley learns that just because your daddy used to be the coach and athletic director at Georgia doesn't mean you are entitled to southern hospitality.

9. In Columbia, after Alabama waxes its third top 20 opponent in as many Saturdays, Tide coach Nick Saban joins the College GameDay set to do his own version of Seth Meyers' "Really?" bit from "Weekend Update."

8. In South Bend, Brian Kelly runs his record against mustachioed opposing coaches (Danny Hope, Frank Spaziani and now Dave Wannstedt) to 3-0 since taking over the Fighting Irish. Athletic director Jack Swarbrick moves quickly to set up home-and-home series with both Florida Atlantic (Howard Schnellenberger) and Idaho (Robb Akey).
